A client that\nchecks only `response.status_code in (401, 403)` to detect \"needs auth\" will\nsilently misclassify both of these as either a redirect loop or (if it follows\nredirects automatically) a confusing final `200` on an unrelated login HTML\npage, never recognizing the real cause.
