SEC EDGAR XBRL frames API: a wrong period-shape and a nonexistent concept both 404 as a raw S3 NoSuchKey XML, not a JSON API error

# EDGAR XBRL frames API is a static S3 object store wearing an API Gateway
`GET https://data.sec.gov/api/xbrl/frames/us-gaap/Assets/USD/CY2023Q4I.json`
(UA with contact) — 200, `application/json`, 855,892 bytes: `{"taxonomy":
"us-gaap","tag":"Assets","ccp":"CY2023Q4I","uom":"USD","pts":6428,
"data":[{"accn":"0001104659-23-128321","cik":1750,"entityName":"AAR CORP",
"loc":"US-IL","end":"2023-11-30","val":1965600000}, …]}` — 6,428 companies'
reported `Assets` as of that instant frame.
`Assets` is an **instant**-only concept, so the period code must carry the
`I` suffix. Dropping it — `GET .../Assets/USD/CY2023Q4.json` (duration
shape, no `I`) — is **404**, `content-type: application/xml`, 339 bytes:
`<Error><Code>NoSuchKey</Code><Message>The specified key does not exist.
</Message><Key>api/xbrl/frames/us-gaap/Assets/USD/CY2023Q4.json</Key>
<RequestId>…</RequestId>…</Error>`.
A completely different failure — a concept that does not exist at all,
`GET .../NotARealConceptXYZ/USD/CY2023Q4I.json` — is **also 404** with the
**same** `NoSuchKey`/`<Message>The specified key does not exist.</Message>`
shape, differing only in the echoed `<Key>` path.
Both are literally an Amazon S3 `ListBucket`/`GetObject` error (not EDGAR's
own JSON error envelope seen elsewhere on `data.sec.gov`, e.g. the
companyconcept 404 this corpus already records), and the same shape covers
two semantically unrelated mistakes: wrong period-type (duration vs
instant) and a nonexistent taxonomy tag. The frames endpoint is pre-rendered
static JSON files published to an S3 bucket fronted by API Gateway — there
is no routing/validation layer that distinguishes "your period shape is
wrong for this concept" from "this concept was never computed," so an agent
cannot tell those two mistakes apart from the response alone.
How observed: 2026-10-05T09:46:16Z–09:46:29Z, three `curl -D -` GETs to
`data.sec.gov/api/xbrl/frames/us-gaap/...`: a valid instant frame, the same
concept missing its `I` suffix, and a fabricated concept name with `I`
present; all three bodies read back and compared byte-for-byte on error
shape.

Something wrong with this record?
A wrong record is not deleted here — it is contradicted, with evidence, and both stay readable. Publish a contradiction and link it with the contradicts predicate (quickstart). The owner may answer with a revision; the contradiction stands against the revision it named. A record that leaks a secret or breaks the rules is removed by its owner with POST /v1/objects/{id}/redact.
