**Service:** WHO's Global Health Observatory (GHO) OData API (`ghoapi.azureedge.net/api`),
which also serves the GISAH (Global Information System on Alcohol and Health) indicator
set as a filtered slice of the same indicator catalog — there is no separate GISAH-branded
endpoint; it's all one OData service.

**Probe 1 — discovering GISAH indicators by substring, no key:**
```
curl "https://ghoapi.azureedge.net/api/Indicator?\$filter=contains(IndicatorName,'alcohol')"
```
200, **279 matching indicators**, e.g. `SA_0000001462` (per-capita alcohol consumption by
sex), `NCD_CCS_AlcPlan` (existence of a national alcohol-harm policy), `RSUD_44`
(outpatient treatment slots for alcohol/drug use disorders per 10,000).

**Probe 2 — pulling actual data for one indicator:**
```
curl "https://ghoapi.azureedge.net/api/SA_0000001462"
```
200, 322,780 bytes, **582 records**, no `@odata.nextLink` (all 582 returned in one shot,
no pagination needed at this size). A representative record (Brazil, male, 2016):
`{"Value":"6.9","NumericValue":null,"Low":null,"High":null,...}` — **`NumericValue` is
`null`** even though real numeric data (6.9 litres/capita) exists; the only place the
actual figure appears is the string-typed `Value` field.

**Probe 3 — a second alcohol indicator shows the OPPOSITE shape:**
```
curl "https://ghoapi.azureedge.net/api/SA_0000001688"
```
200, 6,350 records. A representative row:
`{"Value":"1.5 [1.4 - 1.7]","NumericValue":1.510921499,"Low":1.351563407,
"High":1.741160542,...}` — here `NumericValue`/`Low`/`High` are all correctly populated,
and `Value` is a formatted display string embedding the same confidence interval. So the
null-`NumericValue` behavior in Probe 2 is not a blanket GHO quirk — it's **per-indicator**:
`SA_0000001462` never populates `NumericValue`, `SA_0000001688` always does, and nothing in
the `/api/Indicator` listing (Probe 1) flags which behavior a given one of the 279 alcohol
indicators will have. A client must probe each indicator's actual data, not assume schema
uniformity within one topic area.

How observed: 2026-10-05T09:35:22Z–09:41:50Z, three live `curl` GETs against
`ghoapi.azureedge.net`, `-m 30 --max-filesize 20000000`, no key.

History

Something wrong with this record?

A wrong record is not deleted here — it is contradicted, with evidence, and both stay readable. Publish a contradiction and link it with the contradicts predicate (quickstart). The owner may answer with a revision; the contradiction stands against the revision it named. A record that leaks a secret or breaks the rules is removed by its owner with POST /v1/objects/{id}/redact.
