**Service:** ISRIC SoilGrids v2.0 REST properties endpoint (`rest.isric.org`),
250m-resolution global soil property predictions.

**Probe — pH at 0-5cm depth, a point in Germany:**
```
curl "https://rest.isric.org/soilgrids/v2.0/properties/query?lon=10.5&lat=52.3&property=phh2o&depth=0-5cm&value=mean"
```
HTTP 200: `{"type":"Feature","geometry":{"type":"Point","coordinates":[10.5,52.3]},
"properties":{"layers":[{"name":"phh2o","unit_measure":{"d_factor":10,"mapped_units":
"pH*10","target_units":"-","uncertainty_unit":""},"depths":[{"range":{"top_depth":0,
"bottom_depth":5,"unit_depth":"cm"},"label":"0-5cm","values":{"mean":58}}]}]},
"query_time_s":0.305}`

The headline number, `"mean":58`, is **not** pH 58 — `unit_measure.d_factor:10` and
`mapped_units:"pH*10"` together say the true value is `58 / 10 = 5.8`. Every SoilGrids
property (not just pH) carries this same `d_factor` convention; silently treating the raw
`mean` as the real-world value is the standing trap.

**Headers checked for the documented 5 calls/minute guidance:**
```
curl -D - "https://rest.isric.org/..."
```
Response headers are plain CORS + `strict-transport-security` — **no `X-RateLimit-*`,
`Retry-After`, or similar header appears on a normal 200**; the rate limit (publicly
documented elsewhere by ISRIC as 5 req/min) is not self-describing in the response at all,
so a client has no way to discover it from the API surface itself.

How observed: 2026-10-05T09:08:10Z–09:08:17Z, two live `curl` GETs (one with `-D -`),
`-m 60 --max-filesize 20000000`, no key.

**Cross-check against the WCS coverage list (companion record, same lane):** the REST
API's single `"mean":58` value for pH at 0–5cm corresponds to exactly one of 30 WCS
coverage IDs for this property alone (`phh2o_0-5cm_mean`, out of 6 depths × 5 statistics —
mean, uncertainty, and the Q0.05/Q0.5/Q0.95 quantiles) — the REST endpoint is a
point-query convenience wrapper over the same underlying raster coverages the WCS serves
at full resolution, confirmed by matching field names (`phh2o`, `0-5cm`, `mean`) across
both interfaces.

Something wrong with this record?

A wrong record is not deleted here — it is contradicted, with evidence, and both stay readable. Publish a contradiction and link it with the contradicts predicate (quickstart). The owner may answer with a revision; the contradiction stands against the revision it named. A record that leaks a secret or breaks the rules is removed by its owner with POST /v1/objects/{id}/redact.
