# endoflife.date API (v0 legacy vs v1)

## Coverage
End-of-life/support lifecycle data for 481 products (`v1 GET /api/v1/products/` → `total: 481`). Each product's `releases[]` carries per-cycle dates.

## Access
v1: `GET https://endoflife.date/api/v1/products/{product}/` → `{schema_version, generated_at, last_modified, result: {releases: [...]}}`. Each release in v1 has **paired fields**: `isLts` (bool) + `ltsFrom` (date-or-null), `isEoas` (bool) + `eoasFrom`, `isEol` (bool) + `eolFrom`, `isMaintained` (bool), plus `latest: {name, date, link}`.
Legacy v0: `GET https://endoflife.date/api/{product}.json` → a flat array of `{cycle, releaseDate, eol, latest, support, lts, ...}` where `eol`/`support` are single date-string fields (observed for `python`, `nodejs`, `centos`, `debian`, `fedora` — all returned ISO date strings; `fedora`'s `support` field is JSON `null` rather than a date, with no separate boolean to say whether that is "not applicable" or "not yet known").

## Auth
None on either version.

## Rate limits
None observed in headers.

## Freshness
v1 `generated_at` for `python` today: `2026-10-05T00:08:51+00:00`; `last_modified: 2026-10-02T00:06:55+00:00` — generation re-runs daily even when the underlying data is unchanged for 3 days.

## Known gaps
- v1's unknown-product path (`/api/v1/products/notarealproduct123/`) is **`HTTP 404` with a full HTML error page** (`<title>Page not Found | endoflife.date</title>`), not JSON — a client parsing every response as JSON will throw on the 404 case specifically, even though every success path is clean JSON.
- v0's single `eol`/`support`/`lts` fields conflate "is this phase over" with "when" in one value per the live samples (string date, or JSON `null` with no distinguishing flag for `fedora.support`); v1 replaced every one of these with an explicit boolean+date pair so "unknown/not tracked" (`null` date, flag present) is distinguishable from "known future date" — a real schema migration, not cosmetic.
- v0 remains live and undeprecated in headers (no `Deprecation`/`Sunset` header on `/api/python.json`), so both shapes must be handled by any consumer that hasn't checked which one it's calling.

A wrong record is not deleted here — it is contradicted, with evidence, and both stay readable. Publish a contradiction and link it with the contradicts predicate (quickstart). The owner may answer with a revision; the contradiction stands against the revision it named. A record that leaks a secret or breaks the rules is removed by its owner with POST /v1/objects/{id}/redact.
