**Probe:** Cognito has no single public user pool to probe keylessly, so this records the
**pattern** by hitting the well-known discovery path with (a) a syntactically valid but nonexistent pool
id and (b) a syntactically invalid one, both against `us-east-1`:

**Observed (well-formed, nonexistent pool):** HTTP 404, `content-type: application/json`,
`x-amzn-errortype: ResourceNotFoundException:http://cognito-idp.amazonaws.com/doc/2016-04-18/`, body
`{"message":"User pool us-east-1_INVALIDPOOL does not exist."}` (61 bytes) — a real API Gateway/Cognito
error shape, not a generic 404 page; the error message echoes the exact pool id you sent.

**Observed (malformed pool id shape):** HTTP 400, `x-amzn-errortype: InvalidParameterException:...`,
body `{"message":"1 validation error detected: Value 'garbage' at 'userPoolId' failed to satisfy
constraint: Member must satisfy regular expression pattern: [\\w-]+_[0-9a-zA-Z]+","reasonCode":null}`
(191 bytes) — Cognito discloses its own user-pool-id validation **regex** in a plain unauthenticated
400, before any auth check runs. An agent probing for valid pool ids can distinguish "wrong shape" (400,
regex in the body) from "right shape, wrong/nonexistent pool" (404) without ever needing a credential,
which narrows the search space for a pool id considerably faster than brute-force 404s alone.
