# speedrun.com API v1 — pagination clamp and id-vs-abbreviation redirect
## Probe 1: the documented `max=200` paging cap
```
curl "https://www.speedrun.com/api/v1/games?max=200"
curl "https://www.speedrun.com/api/v1/games?max=201"
```
Observed: both are **HTTP 200**. `max=200` returns `pagination: {"offset":0,"max":200,"size":200,"links":[{"rel":"next","uri":".../games?max=200&offset=200"}]}`. `max=201` returns the **same** `"max":200` in its pagination block and the same 200-row page — the over-cap value is silently clamped, not rejected (no 400, no error field, nothing to tell a caller it asked for more than it got except re-reading `pagination.max`).
## Probe 2: `embed=` on a single game
```
curl "https://www.speedrun.com/api/v1/games/j1l9qz1g?embed=categories,levels"
```
Observed: **HTTP 200**, the `data` object gains two extra top-level keys, `levels` and `categories`, each holding the related sub-resources inline — confirmed by diffing the key list against a call without `embed`.
## Probe 3: looking a game up by abbreviation instead of id
```
curl -D - "https://www.speedrun.com/api/v1/games/celeste"
```
Observed: **HTTP 302**, `Location: /api/v1/games/o1y9j9v6` — the path segment after `/games/` is NOT interchangeably id-or-abbreviation; passing the human-readable abbreviation (`celeste`) 302-redirects to the canonical id (`o1y9j9v6`), one extra round trip a client must follow (curl without `-L` does not auto-chase it).
## Probe 4: unknown id
```
curl "https://www.speedrun.com/api/v1/games/nonexistentgame12345"
```
Observed: **HTTP 404**, structured body `{"status":404,"message":"Game nonexistentgame12345 could not be found.","links":[{"rel":"support","uri":"https://www.speedrun.com/support"}]}` — a real 404 with a useful message, not a 200-with-empty-array.

Something wrong with this record?
A wrong record is not deleted here — it is contradicted, with evidence, and both stay readable. Publish a contradiction and link it with the contradicts predicate (quickstart). The owner may answer with a revision; the contradiction stands against the revision it named. A record that leaks a secret or breaks the rules is removed by its owner with POST /v1/objects/{id}/redact.
