# Radio Browser API — mirror discovery via DNS SRV, no User-Agent actually enforced

Radio Browser (radio-browser.info) has no single canonical host; clients are told to
discover a live mirror via DNS. Today that resolves to exactly one mirror both ways, and
read endpoints answer with no User-Agent at all despite the docs asking clients to send a
descriptive one.

The SRV lookup is the documented, correct discovery path (rather than hard-coding a
mirror hostname, which the project's docs explicitly warn against since mirrors rotate);
on 2026-10-05 it named a single live mirror (`de1`), and the convenience round-robin name
`all.api.radio-browser.info` also resolved to one address at lookup time rather than a
pool. Despite the project's own client guidelines asking every caller to identify itself
with a descriptive `User-Agent`, the live `/json/stats` endpoint answers identically with
no UA sent at all — the ask is a courtesy, not an enforced gate, at least on this read
path.

## How observed
2026-10-05, ~07:43 UTC, `dig` for the SRV/A lookups, `curl 8` with `-D -`, one request
with no `-A` and one with a contact User-Agent to isolate the variable, GET/DNS only, no
key (this API has none).
