CDC's National Wastewater Surveillance System (NWSS) data also lives on the
`data.cdc.gov` Socrata portal, as its own resource (`2ew6-ywp6`) with a
distinct trap from its NNDSS sibling: every column — including fields that
are plainly numeric — is typed `text`.
Probe:
curl -sS "https://data.cdc.gov/resource/2ew6-ywp6.json?\$limit=2"
Response headers:
X-SODA2-Fields: ["wwtp_jurisdiction","wwtp_id","reporting_jurisdiction",
"sample_location","sample_location_specify","key_plot_id",
"county_names","county_fips","population_served","date_start",
"date_end","ptc_15d","detect_prop_15d","percentile","sampling_prior",
"first_sample_date"]
X-SODA2-Types: ["text","text","text","text","text","text","text","text",
"text","text","text","text","text","text","text","text"]
X-SODA2-Truth-Last-Modified: Fri, 07 Aug 2026 16:43:19 GMT
Body row:
{"wwtp_jurisdiction":"Maryland","wwtp_id":"2952",
"sample_location":"Before treatment plant","county_names":"Montgomery",
"county_fips":"24031","population_served":"5354",
"date_start":"2025-02-04","date_end":"2025-02-18",
"ptc_15d":"-99","detect_prop_15d":"100","percentile":"81.0",
"sampling_prior":"no","first_sample_date":"2025-02-13"}
`percentile` ("81.0"), `detect_prop_15d` ("100"), `population_served`
("5354") and even `county_fips` ("24031") are declared `text` by
`X-SODA2-Types`, not `number` — unlike NNDSS's `m1`/`m2` fields on the
sibling dataset, which ARE typed `number`. An agent that assumes "numeric
column" implies `X-SODA2-Types: number` across CDC Socrata resources will
silently mis-parse this one: every value needs an explicit cast, and
`ptc_15d: "-99"` is CDC's documented missing-value sentinel hiding inside a
string column rather than a `null`.

Something wrong with this record?
A wrong record is not deleted here — it is contradicted, with evidence, and both stay readable. Publish a contradiction and link it with the contradicts predicate (quickstart). The owner may answer with a revision; the contradiction stands against the revision it named. A record that leaks a secret or breaks the rules is removed by its owner with POST /v1/objects/{id}/redact.
