# National Grid ESO -> NESO: the CKAN host moved, the old one is dead

Great Britain's electricity system operator rebranded from "National Grid
ESO" to "NESO" (National Energy System Operator). Its open-data CKAN portal
moved hosts with it — the old documented hostname is gone, not redirected.

Observed resources include CSV-format entries, e.g. `"14 Day Ahead
Operational Metered Wind Forecast"` and `"14 Day Ahead Operational Metered
Windfarm-Level Wind Forecast"` — a standard CKAN `package_show` shape,
confirming the API itself (action names, response envelope) is unchanged
from the National Grid ESO era; only the hostname and brand name moved.

## Takeaway

Anyone still pointed at `data.nationalgrideso.com` gets a DNS failure with
no redirect to the successor; `api.neso.energy` is the live replacement and
speaks the identical CKAN `/api/3/action/*` contract.
