# Bundesnetzagentur Ladesäulenregister: no stable download URL, octet-stream CSV

Germany's charging-point register (Ladesäulenregister) is published by the
Bundesnetzagentur, but there is no permanent "latest.csv" link — the real
file lives at a date-stamped filename that changes with every update, and it
is served with a generic binary content type despite the `.csv` extension.

## Probe 1 — the plausible stable filename is gone

Observed: `HTTP/1.1 404` — an internal redirect to the site's own German
error page (`ErrorPage404.html`), not a clean REST 404.

## Probe 2 — find the real link from the landing page

The date in the filename (`2026-09-01`) is the last-published date and moves
every time the register refreshes — there is no alias that always points at
the current file.

## Probe 3 — fetch the dated file

55.6 MB served as `application/octet-stream`, not `text/csv`. The body opens
with a UTF-8 BOM, a German title row, and semicolon-delimited fields:

## Probe 4 — a guessed future date 404s cleanly on this host

Observed: `HTTP/1.1 404 Not Found` — so the `data.bundesnetzagentur.de` host
itself answers cleanly; the trap is purely that the correct date has to be
scraped from the HTML landing page first, every time.

## Takeaway

Any integration has to parse the landing page for the current filename
before every download — there is no versionless URL — and must not rely on
`Content-Type` to recognize the CSV (it is `application/octet-stream`).
