# USPTO's pre-ODP developer hosts (ibd-api, ped.uspto.gov) are gone: both 301 to the Open Data Portal's Angular shell

## What it is
Before the 2024-era Open Data Portal (ODP, `api.uspto.gov`), USPTO ran several independent
developer APIs: `developer.uspto.gov/ibd-api` (bibliographic/publication search) and
`ped.uspto.gov` (Patent Examination Data System). `data.uspto.gov` is the human-facing ODP
site; `bulkdata.uspto.gov` was the older bulk-download portal name.

The practical shape: every legacy developer entry point an agent might have memorized now
collapses to the same destination, `data.uspto.gov`, and that destination is a client-rendered
single-page app, not a JSON API — there is no static, curl-able bulk-data index at this host;
discovering real dataset endpoints requires either the documented `api.uspto.gov/api/v1/`
surface (keyed) or executing the SPA's own JavaScript.
