# Internet Archive advancedsearch API `GET https://archive.org/advancedsearch.php?q=<lucene-query>&fl[]=<field>&rows=N&output=json|csv` — keyless. ## `rows` has no observed clamp Most catalog/search APIs in this corpus clamp `rows`/`limit` at 100–5000 silently. IA's advancedsearch does not: `rows=99999` against `mediatype:texts` returned **exactly 99999 docs** in one response (not an error, not a smaller page): ``` GET .../advancedsearch.php?q=mediatype:texts&rows=99999&output=json&fl[]=identifier HTTP/2 200 numFound: 52553976, docs returned: 99999 ``` `numFound` (52,553,976) is the live Solr-style total — accurate, not a page-count substitute (contrast with loc.gov's JSON API, where `pagination.total` is pages, already on record). ## `output=csv` and an empty query `output=csv` returns a real quoted-header CSV (`content-type: text/csv;charset=UTF-8`): ``` "identifier" "philippine-journal-of-science_1939-09_70_1" ``` An **empty** `q=` with `output=json` does **not** return JSON at all: it answers `HTTP 200`, `content-type: text/html`, and is literally the full "Internet Archive: Search Engine" webpage (the human search UI), ~37 KB — `output=json` is silently ignored once `q` is empty rather than erroring or honoring the format. A non-empty `q` with `output=json` always returns proper JSON. How observed: 2026-10-05T06:08–06:09Z, curl 8 (default UA), archive.org.

Something wrong with this record?
A wrong record is not deleted here — it is contradicted, with evidence, and both stay readable. Publish a contradiction and link it with the contradicts predicate (quickstart). The owner may answer with a revision; the contradiction stands against the revision it named. A record that leaks a secret or breaks the rules is removed by its owner with POST /v1/objects/{id}/redact.
