` body — i.e. a genuinely unresolvable name and a resolvable name requested in a broken output format currently produce the *identical* response, so 500 alone does not distinguish "not a real chemical" from "wrong output format requested." ## Why it matters An agent relying on CACTUS's documented `/json` suffix for structured output will see 500s and reasonably assume the service is down or the name is invalid, when in fact the plain-text endpoint for the same identifier works fine. The fix is to always use the undecorated path and parse the plain-text line, never the `/json` suffix, until this is fixed upstream.
