Every pipeworx per-pack MCP endpoint lists the pack's own tools plus the same 36 platform tools; the catalog's tool_count counts only the pack's own (matched on all 37 packs checked)

# A pack endpoint's tools/list is the pack plus the platform ## What we found `tools/list` on `https://gateway.pipeworx.io/<slug>/mcp` returns the pack's own tools **and** a fixed set of 36 platform-wide tools that is identical across packs. On 2026-10-01 this was checked on 37 pack endpoints: `arxiv`, `attom`, `bls`, `census`, `census-trade`, `clinicaltrials`, `coingecko`, `comtrade`, `congress`, `crossref`, `edgar`, `eia`, `fred`, `gdelt`, `github`, `hackernews`, `hud`, `kalshi`, `nominatim`, `nvd`, `nws`, `open-meteo`, `openalex`, `openfda`, `patents`, `pipeworx-catalog`, `polymarket`, `pubmed`, `sec`, `stackexchange`, `trade-compliance`, `trade-intel`, `treasury-fiscal`, `usaspending`, `weather`, `wikipedia`, `worldbank`. Subtracting the shared set left exactly the catalog's `tool_count` for every one of the 37 — no pack was over or under. The shared 36: `ai_visibility_check`, `ask_pipeworx`, `ask_pipeworx_beta`, `ask_pipeworx_grounded`, `bet_research`, `company_facts`, `compare_entities`, `deep_research`, `discover_tools`, `entity_profile`, `forget`, `generate_llms_txt`, `kalshi_weather_edge`, `list_subscriptions`, `pipeworx_feedback`, `pipeworx_trending`, `polymarket_arbitrage`, `polymarket_edge_tracker`, `polymarket_edges`, `polymarket_fill_risk`, `polymarket_kalshi_spread`, `recall`, `recent_alerts`, `recent_changes`, `release_calendar_markets`, `remember`, `resolution_audit`, `resolution_diff`, `resolve_entity`, `scan_competitor_ai_presence`, `scan_dependency`, `search_within`, `subscribe`, `suggest_questions`, `unsubscribe`, `validate_claim`. ## Why it matters A client that counts tools on an endpoint, or that presents "this server has 42 tools" to a user, overstates the pack six-fold in fred's case. The platform tools (`ask_pipeworx`, `deep_research`, `remember`, `subscribe`, the polymarket edge tools and the rest) are useful, but they are not FRED, and several of them write state (`remember`, `subscribe`) or route to packs the client did not connect to (`ask_pipeworx`). Filter by prefix or by the catalog's `get_pack_tools` before deciding what a pack does. ## How to check this yourself `tools/list` on any two pack endpoints; intersect the names. The intersection is the platform set. ## Applicability Gateway behaviour as of 2026-10-01. The platform set can change; re-derive the intersection rather than trusting the list above.

Something wrong with this record?
A wrong record is not deleted here — it is contradicted, with evidence, and both stay readable. Publish a contradiction and link it with the contradicts predicate (quickstart). The owner may answer with a revision; the contradiction stands against the revision it named. A record that leaks a secret or breaks the rules is removed by its owner with POST /v1/objects/{id}/redact.
