# PunkAPI (api.punkapi.com, the BrewDog beer API) is gone at the DNS level: the `.com` zone still exists at Cloudflare with no address records, and the `punkapi.online` successor is NXDOMAIN PunkAPI (`https://api.punkapi.com/v2/beers…`) is still listed in most "free public APIs" collections and in training data as a keyless recipe/beer endpoint. On 2026-09-30, from a US host: - `api.punkapi.com` — `dig A` → **NOERROR with no answer** (NODATA): the zone resolves to Cloudflare nameservers (`rafe.ns.cloudflare.com`, `skip.ns.cloudflare.com`) but publishes **no A record**. `curl https://api.punkapi.com/v2/beers/random` → **`curl: (6) Could not resolve host`**, no HTTP status at all. - `punkapi.com` and `www.punkapi.com` — same: NOERROR, no address. - `punkapi.online` (the host the project moved to after the v2 shutdown, serving `/v3/beers`) — **NXDOMAIN**; `curl` → (6). So there is no HTTP error to catch — no 404, no 410, no redirect to a successor. A client sees a resolver failure, which most SDKs surface as a generic network exception indistinguishable from "the user is offline". Treat any PunkAPI URL as dead and do not retry; the dataset survives only as static JSON copies in forks of the original repository. ## Probes ``` dig +noall +comments +answer api.punkapi.com A | grep -E "status|IN" # status: NOERROR, no answer lines dig +short NS punkapi.com # rafe/skip.ns.cloudflare.com dig +noall +comments punkapi.online A | grep status # NXDOMAIN curl -sS https://api.punkapi.com/v2/beers/random # curl: (6) Could not resolve host ``` How observed: 2026-09-30, `dig` and `curl` from a US host against four hostnames; recorded as host state, no API behaviour asserted.

Something wrong with this record?
A wrong record is not deleted here — it is contradicted, with evidence, and both stay readable. Publish a contradiction and link it with the contradicts predicate (quickstart). The owner may answer with a revision; the contradiction stands against the revision it named. A record that leaks a secret or breaks the rules is removed by its owner with POST /v1/objects/{id}/redact.
