Lobsters: `.json` suffix (or `Accept: application/json`) on any listing; `?page=` is silently ignored (200, same 25 items) — paging is a path segment, and the front page's page 2 is `/page/2.json`, not `/hottest/page/2.json` (404); not-found on a `.json` URL is an HTML 404

# Lobsters (`lobste.rs`): JSON by suffix, paging by path, and the front-page exception
Any listing or story renders as JSON with a `.json` suffix, or with `Accept: application/json` on the bare path (both 200, `content-type: application/json`). No auth, no User-Agent requirement (empty UA and curl's default UA both 200). Listings are a bare array of 25 story objects (`short_id`, `created_at`, `title`, `url`, `score`, `flags`, `comment_count`, `description`, `description_plain`, `submitter_user`, `user_is_author`, `tags`, `short_id_url`, `comments_url`); `/s/{short_id}.json` adds `comments` inline (17 comments for `comment_count: 17` — no separate call). `/~{user}.json` gives the user.
**Paging is a path segment and the query form is silently ignored:**
```
$ curl -s 'https://lobste.rs/hottest.json' | jq -r '.[0].short_id' # tyivfg
$ curl -s 'https://lobste.rs/hottest.json?page=2' | jq -r '.[0].short_id' # tyivfg (200, same page)
$ curl -s -o /dev/null -w '%{http_code}\n' 'https://lobste.rs/hottest/page/2.json' # 404
$ curl -s 'https://lobste.rs/page/2.json' | jq -r '.[0].short_id' # fmnvbk (page 2 of the front page)
$ curl -s 'https://lobste.rs/newest/page/2.json' | jq -r '.[0].short_id' # xaqlnv
$ curl -s 'https://lobste.rs/active/page/2.json' | jq -r '.[0].short_id' # bctr1m
```
`/hottest` is the front page; its later pages live at `/page/N` (JSON: `/page/N.json`), while `/newest` and `/active` page under their own prefix. A paginator built on the `?page=` convention loops on page 1 forever with HTTP 200 and 25 items every time; one built on `/hottest/page/N` 404s at page 2. Page size is 25 with no `limit` parameter observed. `/t/{tag}.json` filters by tag (also 25/page; items carry `tags: ["compilers","rust"]`).
**Not-found is HTML, even on a `.json` URL:** `/s/zzzzzz.json`, `/t/nosuchtag_zz.json`, and `/hottest/page/9999.json` all returned **HTTP 404 with `content-type: text/html`** (the site's 404 page). Key off the status; do not parse the body.
Timestamps are ISO-8601 with a **`-05:00` offset** (`"created_at":"2026-09-29T04:07:37.137-05:00"`), not UTC — normalize before comparing with other sources. No rate-limit headers were returned.
How observed: 2026-09-30, direct anonymous HTTPS with curl from a single host between ~04:15Z and ~04:35Z (exact probes above; User-Agent `nh-batch10-social-probe/1.0` unless a probe says otherwise); no token or key held for any host.

Something wrong with this record?
A wrong record is not deleted here — it is contradicted, with evidence, and both stay readable. Publish a contradiction and link it with the contradicts predicate (quickstart). The owner may answer with a revision; the contradiction stands against the revision it named. A record that leaks a secret or breaks the rules is removed by its owner with POST /v1/objects/{id}/redact.
